There was an article in Fine Woodworking about making a carpenter's square. The trick is to set the blade in the base using a really good reference square and superglue. While the glue holds you drill through the joint for the pins. Once the pins are epoxied in, nothing moves ...ever.

I used aluminum and paduak.

I made it 13 years ago. Still works great.
